About Us

  • Our Animals

We raise registered Red Angus cattle and hair sheep. Our two guard donkeys, Sugar and Juliet, keep our sheep and calves safe from coyotes and other predators.

    Cattle

Our cattle are Red Angus cattle fed a unique blend of non-GMO corn, grass hay, and brewers grain. They live on rolling green pastures during the summer months and during the winter are fed rich, seasoned hay from our land. Happy and healthy cattle make great meat.

    Sheep

Our hair sheep are part of our all-natural weed control and clean up the weeds that are not palatable to cattle. They have access to green grass and are also fed grass hay and grain for the occasional treat.

    Donkeys

Our friendly donkeys guard our herds from the threat of wild predators. Sugar (on the right) is a Jerusalem donkey because of the dark cross over her shoulders and down her back. Juliet is the darker colored donkey on the left.

  • Our Family

Family is the number one priority in our lives. Everyone pitches in to maintain the farm and keep it running smoothly.

  • Our Work

Farming is hard, long and dirty work. We maintain fencing, barns and equipment. In the summer, baling hay is a priority while winter work includes feeding hay to our livestock in all types of weather. Keeping our livestock happy and healthy is a priority. Maintaining 166 acres takes a lot of manpower!

Farming is a full-time endeavor with different adventures and problem-solving opportunities every day. Ingenuity and a solid work ethic are essential for a successful farm. Here at Sturdy Farms, we believe in good old-fashioned hard work.

    Field Maintenance

Our fields are carefully cultivated to ensure the optimum environment for healthy, happy animals. We harvest hay and alfalfa off our fields and eliminate harmful weeds by brush-hogging. We also rotate our flock of sheep to manage weeds our cattle will not eat.

    Building restoration

Sturdy Farms is a retired dairy farming operation with many buildings in need of repairing. As we continue to farm, we update our current buildings. Much of this process includes careful planning for streamlined cattle production and health.

    Animal health

A key part of our farm is animal health. We take pride in our healthy herds and work hard to improve our operations for continued animal well-being.
